    Hi Looking for some advise.
I am bringing my family to the canaries in two weeks. I tried to book Ryanair last Monday night but just after I pressed "confirm" the screen froze and after a few mins a pop up box poped up saying there was an issue and if I didnt receive an email confirmation in 10 mins I needed to book again.

I checked my Email and my bank on line to check had the money gone through it had not. Tried again and the same thing happened. Decided to wait until next evening incase there was an issue with their website.

Next evening the flights had gone up so It was cheaper to go on Aerlingus. Booked Aerlingus. Everything was fine until I got an email confirmation this morning from Ryanair.

So I have paid for two sets of tickets. Cost 1300 each airline approx.

Rang Both Aerlines to explain but neither will do any thing. Will write letter to Ryanair but based on past experiences dont think they will be too sympathetic.

    Any suggestions?

Damn, that's a pickle. Not sure why you didn't post this in the main Travel forum where it would see more traffic, but all I can suggest is the route you have already tried which is trying to get one airline to cancel the itinerary.

I'd be inclined to suggest Ryanair if it gave you an error message with a 10min time frame. However if you received any email confirmation from them then it would not have been wise to book with Aer Lingo.

Be prepared that both airlines might stand their ground and leave you out of pocket, feck all you can do tbh.

You'd think Aer Lingus would love you to publicise this given that their costs were lower than Ryanair (which I find they often are when you compare like with like).

The Evening Herald might have a bit of a laugh with it. Ryanair might pay you to shut up.

Can you cancel your credit card payment to Ryanair explaining there was an unreasonable delay in your receiving the confirmation email?

    Hi Thanks for suggestions.

Tried cancelling it with the banks but they say they cannot do anything unless Ryanair refund it.

I put it up on Donedeal for €750. hopefully someone might purchase it and I may write off the balance.

Not confident of Ryanair doing their civic duty.

I had a similar situation a few years back, phoned my cr card and organised a charge back (from Ryanair as it turned out), I suggest you talk to your cr card company before taking a financial loss.

If anybody were to buy the flights off you, they would have to pay a €100 name-change fee, per passenger, per flight. That would most likely by far exceed what they are willing to pay...
