I'm looking to get a MacBook Pro or an iMac, does anyone know any good sites for buying a second hand one online? I've been looking on adverts.ie and Ebay but not many come on there.

All told good second hand macs are like gold dust. They are built to last and unlike Dell's and other PC's, they're generally are good for many years.

Adverts and eBay are your best bet. Gumtree and DoneDeal have alot of scammers. High value items like Mac's attract them as its easy cash. Always check the feedback.

Are you looking for an iMac or a MacBook?

Preferably a MacBook Pro, but if I can get a bargain on an iMac I'll take one. Needs to be relatively high spec though as I want to run Pro-Tools off it. Missed out on a great one on Ebay the other day by 12 cents. Had it with 6 seconds left and someone else jumped it

Yeah, they don't give much off them though, maybe 10%. Adverts.ie is ok for them, just wondering if there was a UK/European wide site that specialises in selling them.

CompuB often sell off display models

Best bet is adverts.ie imo and especially around refresh time (April I reckon)

Is that made public information? Would be very interested.

OP, Apple have strict pricing guidelines. As such retailers have little scope for value or discounts. To my knowledge there is no second hand mac specialists.

apple resellers get up to 40% discounts for 'demo' units, under strict terms and conditions and can then sell them off after a certain period.

    Have a look at

I have both bought and sold to them and couldn't fault them.

Check their Facebook page or their twitter page. That is were they usually post up the deals.

Btw: PCWorld have currently €200 off the 13" MBP

Bought a mini on here (adverts.ie) for 175 I think a couple of years ago. Its a solid yoke and hasn't so much as hiccuped since I got it.

Its my media centre, accessed by screen sharing.

I bought my imac as a refurbished model. Someone made a mistake, supposed to be 2gb of RAM and got 4GB, got 750GB on the hard disk but I paid for 500gb :D

But that's not typical at all.
Worth checking all the same though. There are macs for sale on adverts.ie but they command a good price, macs last for years

That wasn't a mistake. Fairly common actually. But it's down to luck.

You're right, I posted about it about two years ago and learned it was actually quite common.
    All down to luck.

The refurbished store can be a good option for you OP. The products are perfectly fine
