Installing Apps on more than one device

Using a single Google Checkout account, I've bought several apps from the Android Market on a Galaxy S and a Galaxy Tab. I thought that if I bought an app on the Tab, I should be also allowed to install it on the Galaxy S and visa versa. If I got to the My Apps section on each device, I don't see all of my paid purchases. e.g. I have Vignette on my Galaxy S, but it doesn't show up as an available download for my Tab. My Google Checkout account shows all purchases from both devices.

Anyone else having the same problem?

The market has alot of filters that allow developers to block access to their apps from certain devices for hardware reasons i.e. screen resolution or other functionality

If you manually search does the app show up?

I just searched for Vignette on the Galaxy Tab and it shows up no problem, but they want me to pay another three quid for it.

It looks as though Google may have set up individual profiles for each device within the Checkout account itself. From reading the Google Help forums, there seem to be a lot of people having similar issues. e.g. After updating to Froyo, or buying a new phone, their purchased apps are no longer available for download.

Google aren't being very forthcoming with responses to queries, either.

Backup your paid apps with titanium and copy them to the other device and restore

Yep, that seems to be the only way to do it in an even slightly legit fashion :)

    Thanks.

I've done it between my desire and the wifes blade, in the not so legit way

    As proof of concept, obviously

Is that legal? Like, do they have something in their terms of service regarding "fair use" of apps you purchase?

I've installed a paid app on both a Galaxy Tab and Desire without needing to pull any rabbit's out of hats. Just went to the my apps section and downloaded it on the other device.
