    Hi Guys,

have a bit of a weird one here.

I have a Sony prs-650 and i buy books from different sites Kobo, books on Board, waterstones etc. I use calibre as my software.

    here is the issue

I recent bought a book from Books on board, was reading it and decided to charge my e reader. Plugged the ereader into my pc and left it over night. next morning the reader is fully charged and I open the ebook that I was reading only to be told that the book was DRM protected. I have software to sort this out which I used and it was fine BUT where is the problem here? is it the ereader or the ebook or the site selling me the ebook? This has happened with books that I've bought from books on board and KOBO. It happens every now and again but it's an issue

    Any ideas?

Is your e-reader authorised on Adobe Digital Editions?

Funny you should ask that as I bought 3 books from Waterstones.com (at really good prices) and when I loaded all 3 on they were ALL DRM so I went on to their site and checked out their DRM policy and they talked about Adobe editions .I loaded the books onto the reader via this and they were fine. What is this all about ??????

The DRM locks the books to an account. With Adobe when you buy a book, you download an authorisation file which then allows you to actually download the book to Adobe Digitial Editions. Adobe will only allow this book to be read with devices authorised with Adobe and the account the book was bought from. The books cannot be read on your reader without going throught Adobe first.

This is weird as about 99% of all the books on my reader have not gone through Adobe Editions. I just buy them and load them directly via calibre. It has happened before that I've tried to open a book and got the DRM message BUT 5 minutes later no problem. This whole DRM is just crazy, I'm willing to pay for the book and make sure the author gets his cut but with all this hassle the torrent sites are looking good
