Hi people, I'm out working tonight, but gonna stick it on record.. All things considered, it could be a good show.
Rugby player and recent 'Strictly Come Dancing' contestant Gavin Henson will be among Brendan O'Connor's guests on 'The Saturday Night Show'. Also joining O'Connor on RTÉ One will be 'Calendar Girls' actresses Danielle Lineker, Lynda Bellingham and Bernie Nolan, who are coming to Dublin to star in the show, and 'At Your Service' presenters John and Francis Brennan. 'The Saturday Night Show' is on RTÉ One at 9:55pm.

Have to say, I absolutely love John and Francis Brennan. Their show is one of RTE's few 8.30pm gems.. Francis showing yer wan how to turn the toilet roll around the right way last week was hilarious.. Nice to see some REAL people on the show, not the usual media whores..

God it's SO much better than the Late Late.

    I love the Brennans.

Why does Brendan O'Connor keep saying "come here"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,495 ✭✭✭chalkitdown1

It's a Cork thing. Be thankful he doesn't say 'La' at the start of every sentance instead. ;)

When they were trailing "an exclusive from Leinster House" I would have bet good money that either Mario Rosenstock or Oliver Callan was coming on to do their shtick.

I thought the breaking news from Leinster House was going to be more interesting

I think he ran for the Dail before and failed - he's running as an independent, so won't be in the cabinet. Pointless vote.

This fella is more suited to the Late Late Show - he's a totally boring guest.

He did, and he was a Fine Gael candidate.

He wasn't always as independent minded as he is now

I'd vote for him, he's an astute, brave and honest Irishman...

This is the second time in two days I've been tricked by RTE - on Friday on Liveline - Joe said that Eamonn Gilmore was going to make a "big" announcement from leinster house - I still haven't a clue what that was about and now tonight another big announcement - which was this fella -

A researcher has been dispatched to the RTE canteen, just in case anyone else drops out.

Gawd! O'Connor makes my skin crawl. He has that pervy leer and countenance of an old style pervy Parish Priest. Yeugh!

He's particularly awkward when interviewing women... Very worrying! Should carry a warning IMO

SO true. I'll never understand how he got on TV. The country folk love him though. :P I can see them in the audience lapping up every word he speaks.

I disagree. He's a breath of fresh air to have on the telly. I like his interviewing style and the way he's not afraid to ask some risky questions. He's also not afraid to stick the boot into politicians from time to time.

I would love to see him interview some of so called "A" listers that TLLS gets. He wouldn't be afraid to ask the questions we all want to be asked.

Does anyone know who were the couple he interviewed? I missed the intro.

    Haha, forgot about this.

Pat is so unintentionly funny in this clip. Lots and lots of dead air as he tries to work it out and I'm pretty sure he still didnt get it in the end as pop culture references are not his strong point...:D

Just back from work. After watching the first two guests... Francis and John Brennan are two very decent funny people, the story about Francis messing up the start of the race was great .. lol...

I've a huge amount of respect for Shane Ross, but I fear it's inevitable that he will a) get elected and b) not be able to make any difference whatsoever..
No one is worse than that DLB. Brendan is way better!!

I agree completely. DLB has had YEARS of interviewing and presenting on both radio and TV, and yet Brendan is better interviewer than him after six months... Brendan is still obviously learning, but he is getting better...

Exactly. Let's see how 'ballsy' he is when he has to interview someone of note. I guarantee you he will be back to his arselicking Sunday Independent best.

Add Jedward, Louie Walsh and Brian Dowling to that list too. He will never get to interview anyone "of note".
