Hi. Myself and my missus are thinking of getting either a Capri or VW Beetle. Which would be the more practical car as it will be getting fairly regular use, tipping in and out to town.

Myself, I would prefer the Capri as my da had one when I was a wee young kid. What are they like for getting repairs and parts?

Capri for me too - there's a shedload of them up on Donedeal at the moment. Don't think there's any problem with parts and they are easy to work on. I had a MK I 20 years ago and it was a great car

Ah But, I see the word's "and my Missus'' in the OP

So basicly the op needs conclusive and irefutable arguments as to Why the Capri he wants to get is infinitley better in every single way than the Beetle she has her eye on.

Capri - straight forward motor and parts are cheap and common to many Fords.

Beetle - the "tart it up and call it restored" dodgy dealers dream. I think it very hard now to find a decent example unless you pay major money.

I love Beetles, but I think you'll get a better buy with a Capri.

I agree totally here too. Capri is really the better option.

The Capri because you can sling stuff in the boot. If you want to sling stuff in the boot of the Beetle you will have to leave the engine at home. :D

Of course your missus may think the Beetle is cuter. If she wins the argument you will not be worse off. The Beetle is still pretty easy to service and you won't need to change the anti-freeze.

This could be turned around into something nice - if you fancy a bit of tinkering too.
