What to do with old duvets, pillows?

    Hi,

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask my question - if so, perhaps a mod could rehome it.

What is the best way to get rid of old duvets and pillows? The main suggestion of "green" websites is to donate them to animal shelters. Well I tried DSPCA and they don't want them because they can't wash and dry them. Also tried freecycle etc and no joy there.

    So any other suggestions?

Maybe a shelter or refuge? Might be worth contacting the local branch of the Simon Community.

A friend suggests that old duvets and pillows can be laid out in the attic to provide extra insulation. Given the winter we have experienced, it's not altogether a bad idea.

Good idea! But want rid completely as the house is up for sale. Mega-decluttering going on!

Could the extra insulation not be of benefit to the new owners?

I'd be afraid they might not like it as they are old and used. Not sure how they would be in terms of fire risk either. If I were staying put or buying a place I'd seriously look into using it for that.

Plus (the real reason I'm not keen) I don't fancy my chances of getting up in the attic any time soon. :D
