Alarm was going off yesterday when i came to collect car after work. Thought it was strange as lights were not flashing. Unlocked car but it didnt switch off until I drove for approx 5 mins. Very strange.
Then once parked up last night it started again and has been going intermittantly ever since. Driving us crazy ! Seems that noise is coming from the amplifier in the boot.
If I disconnect the battery would that kill it for moment until I get it to a garage ??
    Thanks

Disconnecting the battery would be my first thought too.
But, and i am no expert, there might be a back up battery for the alarm too?

Would give it a go anyway because a car alarm going off al night is annoying as hell. You probably aren't going to win any popularity contests in your neighbourhood soon..

Is the battery in it new, or is it getting on a bit. Low voltage can cause issues with the alarms.

Alternatively, it could be a faulty door catch on one of the 5 doors so the car thinks a door is open. Do you ever get the door open warning light flashing up on the dash?

If it's an aftermarket alarm, you can pull all the wiring out of the unit under the bonnet, and that will stop it going off. Worked on my 03 Octavia after a window had been smashed and the bloody thing wouldn't stop.

Something similar happened to my VW before, found that the rear wiper jet had popped out and I had soaked the boot catch. Just dried it off and was sorted. The jets freeze alot in winter and commonly pop out, so its possible this is your problem.
