Better than social networking sites

Who agrees that this site is at the end of the day better than social networking sites?I myself think there is lots of showing off on sites like facebook. For example showing baby pics, holiday pics, houses etc. It's also quite voyeuristic in my opinion. On the other hand on this site we can voice our opinions, ask for advice and we can be annonymous about it.We are not blowing our own trumpets or showing off to our friends. We are engaging our brains too hopefully and thinking about real life stuff - the funny and the not so funny.I'd love to know what other people think.

I like Boards, but there's no Poker or Bingo to play.

For having proper discussions, the social networks blow. Boards ftw.

Once they add farmville I'll have no reason to use Facebook again.

If it was better it would be bigger. Its a good place for advice but essentially its just another forum.

    Try the oldfashioned Jungle Drums.
In their day they were better than Morse Code...

To be honest at least I know who I am arguing with on facebook. On boards it usually turns out to be some bigoted ten year old telling us we should all kill the brits ect.

Facebook has its uses. You could feel out of the loop if you're not part of it. Sad to say, but that's what our level of social interaction has come to.

OP, I definitely agree with your point about using facebook to parade what you've been doing/showing off -> especially those girls who take 200 photos through the course of a single night out. Stop living your life through a camera and just go out and live it!!

I don't understand the Question. Boards is better at the beginning, middle, or end of the day, than almost anything except for a good roide.
