A couple of problems

    First off, Toshiba Satellite L300.
    It keeps freezing.

A friend dropped it in to me, but I know very little about laptops.

Took a quick look, decided that the quickest option was to do a reinstall.
    That went through fine.
I left it doing updates overnight, went to pick it up the next morning and noticed sparks coming from the power adapter.
Turns out that a chair leg had caused the damage. She neglected to inform me of this potential fire hazard.

Anyway, I tried to use it without it being plugged in, but it still freezes.
Am I right in saying that it's completely borked, or did the surges just mess up the HDD?

I ran a system check, but that froze too. Everything freezes on it.

    Second one is simple.
Toshiba Equium U400. The screen was stood on.
Anyone know of a shop with cheap replacement screens?

I've googled and sent a couple of e-mails over the past few days, but didn't get any replies.
