Received permanent ban by above mod with no warning or infraction(troll accusation). He is also ignoring my pms in my seeking a resolution. He has been posting today so he has received them.
Bad show/behaviour by a mod. I seek resolution please from someone who cares to take notice. Thank you

I must add, that I can't provide links as all my posts have been deleted along with instant ban. Still being ignored but I wont let this go.
Can someone please confirm if this is normal procedure on boards.ie? I have read the rules/charter etc. and infractions/warnings are issued for rule breaking. I have broken no rules and I get an instant ban.
    Surely Mods must follow procedure?

Reading over your posts in A/R/T FilthyMickey, I can't see any reason to overturn the ban. Your posts were obviously intended to be humourous, but A/R/T is not a humour forum the way After Hours is, and has specific rules on posting honestly about athletic performance, giving honest advice based on real-world experience and so forth. All of your posts ran completely counter to this intent.

I agree some of them were intended to be humourous but to get an instant ban with no warning/infraction whatsever is what my gripe is about. If you look through A/R/T you will find humourous posts that have no input into running, but they are allowed.
I, on the other hand am clearly not allowed, I dont even deserve a warning cause I didnt get one, and all my posts were deleted and given a permanent ban to boot.
Now rules are rules and to be fair, if I have broken the "anti humour rule" then yes I am guilty. I have in no way got personal or insulted anyone in A/R/T and I'm sure you would agree with me when you have read them.
Now I would take it on the chin if proper procedure was followed and take an infraction for being funny but in no way can I accept a permanent ban as it does not follow protocol of boards.ie
Now I ask you to give this a second thought and hear me from my perspective. This is wrong on quite a few levels and I can't sit back and take an injustice like this. It is clearly unfair.

    Thank you

FilthyMickey, if I thought you were posting in good faith, I'd say so. I don't. Your posts in A/R/T were all taking the mickey. Every last one. From asking for suggestions as to what running club to join to meet single women, to advising people to eat meat, cabbage and potatoes and drink a pint of milk before running a marathon, to advising people not to take milk into the sauna, to advising people not to bother with showers; none of your posts in any way contributed to the forum. They weren't even funny, if I'm blunt about it.

And while those who have contributed to the forum in the past may crack a joke every so often, all you did was tell unfunny jokes in serious threads and contribute noise. Had you read the forum charter you would have seen that that wasn't permitted.

As to the seriousness of the ban, well, guess what - if you sign up with a moniker like yours, and spend your first six or seven posts doing nothing but making unfunny jokes that are aimed to derail more serious threads, then you're trolling; and you got banned as a result.

And since the mod in question did in fact PM you about it, it seems to me that now you're trying to troll the DR forum as well. Which isn't exactly of benefit to your case.

Ok Sparks I take some of your points on board but I was serious about meeting women through a running club and my jokes are funny, sometimes.
I made a mistake by starting off like that but can I ask your compassionate side and Donothoponpops and give me a 2nd chance to let me back in.
Every man deserves a second chance, give me a break, I wont act the mickey again, lesson learned. I am not trolling here either, honest. I do have some constructive points for A/R/T and I just want to engage with some like minded people in the sport that I love.

As an extra note, I started a thread in DR because I was waiting for ages for Donothoponpop to reply to my pms and I thought he was puttting me on the long finger to wind me up. It worked.

That's not what A/R/T is for.
    and my jokes are funny,sometimes.
Not in the context they were in, they weren't.

    Constructive points such as?

Except that he did respond to your PMs, didn't he?

My training log, which I was going to submit but I can't now due to ban.

I explained myself on that point already.

I am saying sorry for my misdemeanors. Please accept. Give me 1 chance please, thats all I ask.

Look you have me on my knees here, give me a break for the love of God.

All I'm saying is that I didnt get a warning or infaction. I was just banned with no prior warning.
If I did get a warning and I continued with another similar post, I would take the ban on the chin and no questions asked.
You have made it clear to me now that humour is not alllowed in A/R/T. I accept that and I wont do it again.
All I ask is to be granted a chance like the way other people have, who got warnings for their deviant behaviour.
This is what is killing me, is it really so bad what I have done to be not be deserving a warning?
You wont engage with me on that one point. Will you please consider it?

Its really perplexing me at this stage as to why my question above and in previous posts, is still not be answered. Why have I not received a warning first before I was banned? I only joined boards that night and got a ban with no warning. I have read the charter and I cant see how I deserve an instant ban with no warning. I agree I was being lighthearted in some posts but a warning to stop from a moderator would have sorted that out.
Has the policy changed on Boards to ban first and then answer questions later?
I am simply asking for justice in this resolution but I feel that is not coming.
Surely someone here can see my side for Gods sake?? This is verging on the ridiculous at this stage.

    It's certainly well over into the melodramatic, you're sounding like a rubberbandits sketch. Some points;
    • You weren't lighthearted in some posts. You were (pardon the pun) taking the mickey in all of your posts on A/R/T.
    • The moderator isn't there to let you break the charter until they say stop. The moderator is there to sanction you if you do break the charter. The onus is on you to read it before posting and abide by it. You didn't.
    • You aren't asking for justice in this resolution. The ban was warranted under the rules of the forum. What you are asking for is leniency, and...
    • I've been speaking with the mods about leniency since you asked for it in post #9, but your subsequent posts are pretty much sinking your own plea.

Ok whatever you say, I am at my wits end as to how defend myself.
I am looking for leniency, how else do I go about it?
You are right, I am wrong, what more do i have to do??
To be honest, I feel like I am being played with here, all I'm asking is for 1 chance.

FM, you're protesting to the wrong person here. My decision is that the ban was justified. If you want leniency, it's the mods you need to speak to, not me; my role in this is concluded at this stage.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29 FilthyMickey

Ok, I was only trying to follow the flow chart above. Are you saying that I should PM the moderator again and ask him again?
Or do I ask him on this thread in the hope of him reading it, please clarify.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

I'm saying that we're off the flowchart at this point. The ban was justified, and I don't see a reason to overturn it. You're asking for leniency, not to have the mod's decision overturned; so it's the mod you should be asking, and I'd ask politely by PM if it were me.

Ok I have sent a pm to Donothoponpop as above and he is not replying to me.
I have apologised etc and admitted my wrongdoings but no response.
Where do I go from here? Can an admin do something for me?
I am only asking for one chance.

Can an admin do something for me?

As an admin, I'd agree with the line that Sparks has taken. The actions of the moderators were fair and reasonable and from that basis there is no dispute to be resolved here.

After that, its a case of the mods choosing to give you a chance. I'm stressing that deliberately - it is, and should remain their choice.

You've PMed the mod in question. Expecting an answer within a short period of time, and asking for admin intervention is, frankly, doing you no favours....just as repeatedly PMing them wouldn't either.

All I can do is ass that Donothoponpop responds to your pm, but wouldn't consider 48 hours unacceptably long here that its worth intervening.

The mod in question has reduced it to a 6 month ban :pac:
A suggestion as regards to the layout of your flow chart above.
Delete the right hand side and just leave the left hand side to avoid confusion and getting people's hope up in vain.
I was under no illusion as to what the outcome would be.
I only pursued this to prove a point. I wont be posting here again.
This site is a complete farce in how it is run, no doubt as I read the other threads here.
It is perfectly obvious as to why mods/cat mods are supported in their wrong decisions. Sure why would you sack someone who is willing to work for free and their only payment is to give them a false power trip in order to massage their egos while playing around with a farce of a site.
Too many inconsitencies prove that rules are here to be broken by those allowed.

Ok this is definitely my last post and I know its off the subject but Bonkey are you related to Bono by any chance?
