Best method for catching specimens to study

How would you go about catching a Z to see how long it can survive and conducting other tests on it?

The only way I can think of would be luring your Z to your safe house and shooting it with a tranquiliser dart. However close contact with the zombie when you have to move it may cause infection so you'd have to find a way around that.

sorry to poke a hole in that but zed's have no blood flow so the tranq would be useless on them.

if you wanted to study a recently turned one who was whole with no injuries or what have you then off the top of my head i have nothing. i'll get back to you on it.

Well, if its for 'Scientific Research' and not just to dick aboutr with a Zombie on a Chain.

    1) Find Z (shouldnt be too hard post Zompacylypse)
    2) Find non infected Human
    3) tie up non infected Human
    4) KILL Unrestrained Z
    5) extract Virus from Dead Zom
    6) Inject Virus in Human 'Volunteer'
    7) Wait for Restrained Z to turn
    8) Basicly admit to yourself that there is no scientific Value in this Experiment and you just did it cos the Guy wa annoyin the Sh1t out of you

    9) Dick about with a Zombioe on a Chain :D

I'd use a Punji pit or something. Dig a small hole, fill with short spikes, cover with dead leaves and wait for a zombie. Problem is that you would have to wait near it with a net or something, and you might find a horde of zombies instead of just a lone one. And also you'd mess his feet up pretty bad so that may rule out some experiments.

A zombie on it's own would be quite easy to deal with. One of those dog catcher poles or even just a rope lasso at the end of a stick would allow you to control it enough so that someone else could restrain it further.

Somewhere like a cattle mart would be a good place to examine them as the seating is up over a brick walled pit.

Tie a fresh brain to a stick and lure it into a trap set up previously?

just run through a cattle mart/cattle shed then loop around and close them in.

Cattle feeders are about 5' high and slanted so only a co ordinated human would pass through them so you've plenty of time to examine it.Add some sheeting to the pen and it's never getting out.

combine this with a rapid fire nailgun and you have hours of fun, i mean, er, scientific research...

Ah but in fairness what to examine

    Find Z
    Squish brain
    Rinse
    Repeat

    Possible 'cure' perhaps?
More effective ways of killing z's?
    Hours of endless fun? :pac:

    1) I'm not a scientist So I'd have no place tryin to find a cure
    2) Smush its fecin Head, Simples

    3) Yeah, I'm with ya on that:D:D:D

The most basic rule for zombie survival: Zero tolerance for infected.

No test subjects, no pets (neither zombie pets nor pet zombies), no zombie love slaves (not even if you're really kinky), no loved ones who are "holding on" having been bitten. Kill them. Burn the dead. Stay alive.

If you feel the need to perform an analysis on them, watch them from a safe place with your sniper rifle and rocket launcher beside you. Any experiments which can be carried out from a distance should be done from a distance, anything that needs to be closer should not be done. Anyway the most important things to find out would be behaviour and immunity. Shoot them with substances you think might poison them, observe feeding/fasting behaviour etc. The whole 28 weeks later "they all just starved, luckily enough" is a load of hooey. Trying to figure out how long it will take for them to starve is useless. Even if they can starve, there is no way of measuring how long the general population of zombies has been without food.

This was the plot of the film day of the dead

Day of the Dead is a 1985 horror film directed by George A. Romero and is the third film in Romero's Dead Series, being preceded by Night of the Living Dead (1968) and Dawn of the Dead (1978).

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dead_%281985_film%29

Set sometime after the events of Dawn of the Dead, the film briefly opens with a group of people - Sarah, John, Bill and Miguel - looking for survivors in the deserted streets of Fort Myers, Florida. They try to call people with a megaphone but just attract hordes of undead. The group soon returns to their base, an underground army bunker near the Everglades, where the majority of the film takes place. The group is revealed to be part of a military-supported scientific team assigned by the remnants of the government to study the zombie phenomenon in the hopes of finding a way of stopping or reversing the zombification process.

bascially it was a high risk affair which cost them men
it divided the group resulting in a munity of the soldiers against the scienists
