shed insurance help needed

    hello everyone.ive a question and everyone i ask cant help me...ive built a shed at my parents house recently which doubles as a workshop with all the usuall tools etc and also stores a small boat with outboard engines and even ferguson 20 in one corner.what i now need is a company that will insure my shed for fire and theft etc.....tryed F.B.D but they said because it wasnt or agri use they couldnt cover it.also asked a local broker and had no joy with them.....dont want to go down the road of trying to add it onto the house insurance even if it was possible....thanks all.....

    I think that your best chance is for your parents to add the contents of the shed to their policy. They can list individual items of significant value.

    Its unlikely that an ins company will give you insurance for the shed separately.

    One of the troubles with this country is finding any insurance company or broker that will handle anything unusual.

    As Pkiernan says, try adding to the house insurance. I'd be fairly honest about what you are covering otherwise if the worst happens they'll wriggle out of paying. Otherwise, it's a case of more shopping around, with what you have in there try a broker that handles classic stuff or even a marine broker (the Fergie is for launching the boat isn't it ;))
