Hi can anyone verify if an apostille is needed for an English birth cert even if person is an Irish citizen?

Its for a registry office wedding, and an apostille costs £70.
Passport is Irish and always has been.

Cannot get an answer from the local reg office today.
    Thanks

    the answer is Yes.

I am in the same position. Contact the british embassy in Dublin. If you google you will find the phone number. You can call in with birth cert or post. Costs €36.
