Strange steering problem

When the car is started and standing still I do a full lock either way and can feel and see the whole front of the car moving and I do mean moving almost pivoting also the handling has become vague. Theres no noise btw, just poor handling.

Tracking has been done with four new tyres and balanced.

I'm replacing the drop links and front and rear bushings on the front wishbones tomorrow and I'm hoping this sorts it. Any ideas if both of these will sort this or could it be something else.

    Mk4 golf btw

Have the balljoints checked by a mechanic.

    Best of luck!

If you do this lock to lock in an S Class merc, the whole front moves a considerable amount however it does sound odd to have a noticeable amount of this in a golf.
Anything obvious should be spotted when doing the wishbones.

OK. New balljoints, 2 New ARB bushings, 2 New Droplinks, and front and back bushings on both wishbones also 4 new tyres and tracking and this problem is still there and if anything is more pronounced.

Anyone got any ideas? both shocks were replaced last year with two from the scrap yard and seemed in good shape, can't remember if this steering issue was there before i replaced them or if it started later.

    Any help appreciated

It coud quite possibly be. As I said earlier, large mercedes do this very noticeably

Hummmm? could it be? lol. I just spent 2 days doing all this work, bushings out, bushings in, balljoints etc etc ah well, at least I enjoyed it and plus I got to buy some new tools.

But I still think its not normal and starting to think maybe its the shocks. Are the springs adjustable in these cars? maybe I did something wrong last year when tightening them up?
