    What sort of recourse would a person have against a school that hypothetically failed in their duty of care to a child? Is there a time limit for these things?

    If injury was caused the school may be liable.

    There is also the potential for litigation where educational needs are not met - that is more likely against the Department of Education and the State.

    Yes there are time limits - its not a one size fits all thing though, it depends on the nature of the specific facts of the situation.

    Talk to a solicitor - you'll get no good out of raising such a query here.
