It could have been stolen, crashed and never been recorded, those online checkers give no guarantee, keep your money for a good mechanic to check it our for you.

Is there anyway of making sure it aint stolen?

You could take the reg into your local Garda Station, if your lucky someone might tell you if it's ok or not. They don't have to and i'm not sure if there allowed but if you meet someone sound, they'd have a fair idea if it was stolen or if it was in a crash if the Garda had to be called to an accident.

Is there an insurance disk in the car? You could call the insurance company. Why do you think it's stolen, have you a link to the car?

I'd say you'd probably safe enough with that once you get it checked out, it has NCT until 2012, it's an 9yr old city car so it's probably got a bit of paint work along the way but it's probably nothing to be worried about.
Any mates that are mechanics and take them with you to have a look?

    I'd be offering, 1200.

No need to service it if it's already been serviced recently, assuming the seller has receipts etc.
