as above you can spend stupid money on them. Its a digital technology so doesnt matter if its copper or platinum contacts just as long as all the 0's and 1's get there!

if your near power city they do them very cheap

Get the cheapest one you can.

The only time you will ever need a more expensive one is if you need extra length. Over 4 meters.

Xrtra vision do two cables. One 9.99 one and one Philips 11.99 one I think

Even if it's the cheapest don't buy those big thick no name or non branded HDMI cables they're more often than not faulty and while a good cheap cable will do as well as a expensive good cable they're both still as the description stated "good".

Don't pay much less than 10 as you get what you pay for.

Was in curries the other day and saw a HDMI cable (1 cable, 1.5m or so) for ~€108

I nearly fell about the place laughing.

Everywhere with the monster cables is great. They also have boxes for "cleaning" the current going into the TV. :D A mate of mine bought a TV a few years ago and got a Monster HDMI cable marked 129. He got 30 off it + a thousand euro TV + a hundred euro wallmount and when I gave out to him for paying so much he said "Sure it was only a hundred quid." :D

and http://hd.engadget.com/2007/12/17/hdmi-cable-scam-used-to-fool-in-store-customers/ Have heard of this happening in more than one place in Ireland.

I got 3 for 30 quid in Gamestop it was a 3 for 2 offer. Brought one of them back so I got 2 for 14.99. 7.50 a cable isn't bad. I wish Amazon delivered HDMI cables here. Does anybody know why they can't?

I was in a rush buying them. You could get even cheaper. There are 1M cables in Tesco for 4.99, very limited stock and it's the exact same as the really expensive gold plated ones. In fact the quality of head of the cable was better IMO.

Go as cheap as you can, they are all the same. The expensive one's are for the people who they can see coming into the store.

    Good read thanks :)
To conclude then, it's fair to say that the advent of HDMI has effectively made the era of stupendously expensive AV cables with dubious-quality claims somewhat obsolete. That £1.50 (including delivery) cable from Amazon will do sterling work for your Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 or media PC - and if it is in some way not up to the job, you'll see it immediately in the form of obtrusive digital artifacting. Only if you're attempting some seriously long connections will a custom cable be required - and even then, the chances are there is an inexpensive version available that will do the job just fine.

Did you try and it gave an error or something, amazon previously did ship electronic to Ireland but they do now so unless there is an additional reason for HDMI the i don't know if you can't do it.
