I dont like playing in the rain but I will almost always get out for at least 9 holes even if it rains. Get good quality rain gear, a good brolley ( and keep a towel inside it so it hangs down, keeps the towel dry and allows you to dry hands, grip, and so on). :D

OP, you're quite right, playing in the rain is simply not fun. It's supposed to be an enjoyable experience people, not an endurance test.

It's good practice. Half your competition rounds in this country will probably involve rain!

Couldnt agree more with the OP, If i was still in the house and it looks miserable out, i aint moving, Golf is to play and to enjoy, not to push a bag around a course being miserable and cold with red frozen fingers trying to keep a grip on a chip where the club dissapears into a sort of marshland. On the other hand if it starts while im out..just get on with it

+1 on this - if you have a good attitude towards playing in the rain you're already a stroke or two up on the competition.

Two of the most enjoyable games of golf I ever played were both in torrential downpours. One was a proam in which we won a prize. The other was in an outing where 48 started in a small drizzle 3 holes later a downpour which also never let up. some walked off the course some stayed until the ninth and only 3 me included finished the course. It was crazy golf but we laughted our way around when we seen the lies we had or when the club turned in our hands. 7 year later we still talk about it.

we went out today,it was dry for the first hole then it lashed,it was torrential we even had a little hail shower.the wind was that strong it knocked over my mates cart trolley.by the 9th we were drench clubs slippin out of our hands and we knocked it on the head.id play golf anywhere in any conditions but today took the biscuit,no enjoyment atall first time ive ever suggested walking off a course.

meant to play tomorrow and sunday hope the forcast is wrong !!!

My best ever round to date (2 under) was started in a torrential downpour. the 2nd green was completely flooded all around the hole so no chance of relief. as has been said, keep a positive attitude and your well ahead of the game.

If playing by yourself, or with one of the lads, f**k it. If it's a competition, man up, put the raingear on, and go forth.

Get over yourself and get out and play in it! Dont be such a fair weather golfer. If your heart and head was in the game you would get out and play in any weather.

I'd agree with OP, life is too short to spend soaked by the rain. Although given our climate, perhaps a move to Spain w'd be in order :)

Don't enjoy playing in the rain, was down for 9.00am this morning live only five mins from the course so we down hoping that either the course would be closed or others would have scratched off.

Anyway went out and shot 30 point for 13 holes in our winter league

It was too nasty for me today. Drove to the course only to find out the other guys had pulled out. Could have got out with another pair but took it as a sign to stay indoors.
Would be all for playing in the rain as i cope well in wet weather generally but the wind and rain was too much today.
    Hope tomorrow will be better

The OP's post reminds me of the golf joke:
Two long time golfers were standing over looking the river. One golfer looked to the other and said, "Look at those idiots fishin' in the rain."
    :D

Lightweights. Yesterday was a good test and nice mild day too.

Only pain was the bag and trolley blowing over all the time :-/

I find sometimes when you are not really in the mood for a game is when you play your best Golf.
There's nothing worse than getting all keyed up for a game and then go out and play crap.
