Managing your own pension

I have a small amount in a pension which is looked after by Ark Life or some other company that my work set up for me a few years ago.

I'm just wondering does anyone here manage their own pension - how would you go about doing it?

I know the UK have a SIPP - Self Invested Personal Pension but is there anything similar to it here in Ireland?

Well after 3 years of AIB investing my pension on my behalf, its now worth -€1,000....so you owe me €100.
    I take paypal.
