    Hi guys,

I've a bit of a strange question for ye, especially considering it's January- does anyone know of any beaches on a bus route from anywhere around DCU? I'd rather not go into town to get a bus out, but I don't mind walking for a bit if needs be.

    Thanks in advance!

You could get the 4 to Blackrock in order to go to a beach in Monkstown. That's all I can think of the top of my head.

That's true, I never thought of that! I don't suppose you know of anywhere a bit closer tho? I'd feel a bit guilty spending an hour on a bus each way when I'm supposed to be studying...!

    Thanks for that anyway Attol!

Can't think of any other bus routes around DCU that go to the coast. Actually, I lie. Doesn't the 3 go somewhere near DCU? I think that goes to Sandymount but I think it's fairly infrequent and probably takes just as long as the 4.

The 101 bus eireann bus from the Swords road across from Whitehall church would have you at Balbriggan in about 30 mins. The buses are every 20 mins.

Actually, the 33 goes down that road too & would bring you to Skerries. It would take a bit longer though because Dublin buses stop everywhere.

Haven't seen a 101 going that way ever. Actually I'm wrong, I have. I go to Lusk every now and then on the 33. Sometimes takes nearly an hour just to get to that village from the stop outside the omni... you'd be going a good bit further!

Mind me asking what the hell you're going to the beach for in January?

I dunno, I just fancied a walk, I always find that being at the beach helps me think...especially when it's really quiet, the way I expect most of them would be this time of year! It'd be a nice break from the studying too.

Thanks for all the help by the way, I really appreciate it! :)

If you get the 17a from Ballymun rd/Glasnevin Ave towards Kilbarrack, it'll drop you a 10 minute walk from the coast (here).

20 min walk to Malahide Road/Collins Avenue intersection - get 42 bus to Malahide/Portmarnock - best beach in Dublin by far!

Also if u get to the airport you can get 102 bus to Portmarnock - goes every half hour

The 4 goes through town and doesn't leave you that near any beach so its not much different to going in and getting another bus out elsewhere.
