    Hi All,

Hoping ye can help me out!!

Recently acquired an ipod touch 4th gen, i cannot connect it to wifi (upc provider). I've tried a different router but all i keep getting is that it cannot connect.

I've selected forget network, i've reset the settings, on 2 different routers. IS there something I'm doing wrong?

Having an ipod touch 4 without the wifi is such a waste.
    Help Please!!

    Cheers,

    Freddy.

Can the iTouch see the UPC router? I installed a UPC BB router last week and had problems connecting via Wi-Fi from my laptop and iTouch, it may have been caused by the fact that the new router is located right beside the TV, UPC digital box and my amp instead of being all by itself out in the hall which was the case with my Vodafone router.

My iTouch (also 4G) could only connect when in the same room as the router, elsewhere in the house it could see the router (SSID UPCnnnnnn) but couldn't connect. Eventually I changed the Wi-Fi channel to 6 and it fixed the problem, the default setting is 'Auto' and it was always using channel 1, manually setting it to channel 6 fixed the problem, try it.

it can see the router alright, an old netgear, then tried a newer version, still the same. Have tried every port connnection, did new setup on routers multiple times.

I will try again however, thanks for your suggestion.

This isn't a smart answer cos I've literally done this 5 minutes ago and it solved my problem of connecting my iphone to dovado router but have you tried turning off your touch and turning it back on. I honestly dont know what happened but it worked for me.

OP, did you try the UPC router with Wi-Fi channel 6?

I'm mystified at the notion of you trying different routers, doesn't UPC use a cable modem and surely any other devices that you have are DSL modems from Eircom and/or BT/Vodafone, how can you have access to other cable routers since for most people UPC is the only company supplying BB via cable?

Maybe he has UPC broadband from the NTL days (like me) when the only thing provided was the modem. I use a netgear router too (which work's fine BTW). There are plenty of cable broadband routers out there. Mine's similar to this (it might even be exactly that, haven't got it in front of me)

OP when you go to wifi in your settings, and you go to connect what error message do you get? have you recently changed your wifi settings? Can anything else in the house connect to it?

Got it working at last, dont ask me how!!
it just connected, working fine now

i had tried everything i could, and i did also turn itouch on/off.

Was supplied by upc/ntl with the old netgear router when i got broadband installed years ago (the cable guy forgot to add it to the bill :) ), happens it may have just given up as it would not let me even connect laptop or even the wii (lol)!

The error i had been getting was simply that it could not connect to internet.

i have noticed however that when laptop and itouch are connected the signal is considerably weaker. Is there some sort of 'booster' you can get for routers?
