last laptop just died (xps m1710)

and i need a new one for college.

it doesnt need to play games, i have my desktop for that.

    It does need the following

1> portable. (the xps was 17" and weigh'd a TON)
    2> fast and reliable
3> i have operating systems, so i dont care what comes with it.
4> good wifi. (some of my class rooms can be a bit far from the access points, so i need decent range)
5> most importantly, it needs to be a decent price. €350 maximum.

I was using my brother's inspiron 1210 (mini) and it was decent, but kinda slow. granted it might be due to it has vista installed (yuck) so something along those lines.

    any help would be amazing!

Just a quick question would you think of buying a second hand laptop? You would be able to get a much better laptop if you buy second hand.

This looks like a great deal -Lenovo s12 . it's a netbook but it's 12 inches which makes it more usable. Also has nvidia ion graphics (will give you a good boost over intel hd) and hdmi out. Should easily do for your purposes and also work for watching stuff and / or playing basic games on a hdmi tv.

I have ordered from these guys before - rapid delivery (2 days) for £10 sterling.

    http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/products/keywords/lenovo+s12/ex/clearance,dummy,tradepack

this would have cost nearly €600 when originally released a year ago.

The dearer one seems to have a longer battery life (in the specs anyway)

    you beat me to it!

was looking at it this morning, doesn't seem to be a lot in there at the moment. Saw an Inspiron N 5010 for about €326 excluding VAT.

probably bigger than you're looking for though.
