Used these guys before. Had a lovely apartment right in the centre of the old town, 2 mins walk from the market area.

Just click on "Nice" on the front page and it will show you all the apartments.

Thanks for that Squidgy, this will be my first time going so I'm not sure what area to locate in for the duration - any advice on that front?

    Rivierapebbles is a good site.

I'd recommend staying in the Old Town (Vieux Nice) as you're right in the middle of the parts of Nice you'd want to see, the beach is just across the road and you're close to all the transport links. Bus station is just between the new and old parts of town for bus trips, the tram runs along this stretch too and can bring you to the train station in 5 minutes.

Having taken a look, if you can afford it, this place is not bad at all. It's directly opposite the house I stay in down there and is very handy for walking around the old town, the port is two minutes walk in the other direction and your right at the foot of the Chateau. From here you'd have amazing views of the sunset too. Castel plage is directly across the road also.

If you're not fussy about sea views etc, you could have a look at this one. It's literally footsteps from the Cours (the market) and 2 mins from the beach. Plus you have a great bakery on this junction and my favourite bar in Nice (Les Distilleries Ideeles) about 25m away. It's a bit of a main thoroughfare for tourists though.

If you come across other places yourself and want advice, pop them in here and I'm sure you'll get advice on the locations.

Thats' great, thanks very much for such a detailed reply :) Both apartments are fantastic! One question though - are those rates per person?

I agree totally with Mike, definitely stay in the old town, its where most of the nightlife is and the fruit market every morning is great for buying stuff to bring to the beach etc.

The apartment i stayed in doesnt seem to be on the site anymore (pity as it had a great location). When i was there i did a 2 hour Segway tour arond the city which was good for getting our bearings, also did a night in the Casino.

Also did a day in Monaco, think you get the 100 bus. Takes about 45 mins and costs about €2.

It is the 100 bus, and it only costs €1 now (all regular bus services have a standardised fare now). I wouldn't spend a full day in Monaco, mind you, but there's usually a nice procession of cars to the casino from late afternoon. Grab a table on the terrace in Cafe de Paris and just people watch (expensive, though).

If you've got the will and want a nice walk, take the 100 to Beaulieu sur Mer and then walk back to Villefranche, have a nice swim then jump on the train (station right above the beach) back to Nice.

@grandslam prices tend to be for the property per night NOT per person per night. That's a very Irish/British thing in my experience!

The advantage of renting like that is that you have total freedom and it really is a home from home.
