Happened to be walking along Talbot street in dublin today and noticed the shop at the 27 bus stop selling airsoft pistols from €10, rifles from about €80. pretty sur eteh make on them was "linda" or something like that

I've not actually gone out airsofting yet but have a fair idea that I'll end up liking it. i mean shooting people with their conscent whats not to like?

Anyway being new and broke i'm wondering is it worth investing in these sort of offers pick up a cheap rifle of my own or am i better renting from teh site or borrowing from a mate for a while on the days i go out to get cash together to get a half descent rifle.

Obvioulsy i wouldnt want to buy something that falls apart after a day of use.

Steer clear of them, they're all springers and of very low quality. For the first time you go, rent from a site, it'll save you a lot of hassle :)

yeah i was planning of renting first time or two out. i'm kinda looking to the future been looking at some of the retailers here and the costs are (to me at the minute) steep. when i say that i mean i'm sure the prices are correct just i don't have that cash under the bed at the minute, lots of dust bunnies just no cash. So obviouly seeing pistols from 10 and rifles from 80 compared to 180 i was starting to get interested.

by springer you mean on shot cock it back another shot cock it etc?

Save up and get a G&G plastica or raider if you can, you won't be disappointed, but stay away from the cheap springer crap.

By springer I mean cock, shoot, cock, shoot, cock, falls to pieces.

If you want to get started on the cheap the adverts here on boards are a great resource. I've bought quite a bit of kit over the last year and I've always been very happy with my purchases. Best bit of advice I can give when looking through the ads is if someone has taken the time to put together a good ad with all the necessary info and good pics, and they take care to answer questions - chances are they are selling a good bit of kit and theyhave probably taken care to keep that kit in a good condition.

Isn't it supposed to be illegal for those shops to be selling those now? Like, for over a year.

that was the plan, i've been browsing the adds over the last few days getting an idea of what kit people have. that way i know its ready for action and so when i go on to bigger and better things i can use what i bought second had as a base in that i know what extras are worth going for and what are just bells and whistles.

also it means i get a half decent piece of kit at a reduced price.

Be sure to take your time going through the ads and don't stop with just tge first couple of pages. When things are busy some great deals can get pushed far away from the front page. And any questions about something you are tempted to but - just ask the experts. My questions have always been answered quickly and helpfully by the community.
