PRSI on ARFs

For years 2007 and 2008 I have paid PRSI 3% on drawings from my ARF.

This had not been deducted by my trustee company at the time of drawing, but was subsequently demanded by Client eligibility services when I applied for an old age pension.

On enquiry I was informed by the Department over the telephone that the ARF was not considered a pension fund and so disbursements were liable to the health levy. I am not sure whether I was talking to Health or Social Protection at the time. You get the run around when you make enquiries...

    Comments please.

I have already closed a thread you have started on ARFs around here.

If this decends into another government bashing, soapbox drama I'll close this and expect a ban.

You Paid PRSI but it was not deducted. Seems a contradiction in terms.
