    Hi,

I'm looking for recommendations on a dentist in Dublin that would be open to slight cosmetic work on the front of my teeth. Basicaly the front 4 of my teeth have alot of composite fillings in them which have degraded over time and they are discoloured and look awful. I also wanted to get my teeth whitened but cannot as they won't match the fillings.

So my only option is to have them whitend and have the 4 fillings replaced with new whiter ones to match. I've been to two dentists and neither of them have been interested in doing the work for me for some reason they seem uninterested and just want to tell me I need more back fillings or something else!... I really need to get this sorted as even going out in public is becoming an issue for me.

Can anyone give me some advise or a dentist that might do this work for me?

    Thanks.

Edit: Whoops don't think you're allowed mention names, I'll pm you. Have had a similar experience.

The dentists are recommending other treatment because they feel it is more "urgent" than you realise. Probably a good sign these dentists are treating you ethically, ie for you well being. I however do not understand why you would not have the fillings that are needed?

Agree there is not point bilding an extension on a burning house. Cosmetic work is best done in a healthy mouth. Get the back teeth sorted then get the cosmetic work at the front. I know the cosmetic work is your priority but maybe thats like painting over the cracks and ignoring the major issue.

I've had all my major fillings done, it's been going on two years now and I am growing tired of being told we'll talk about it at a later date etc etc. Last time I brought it up he said we'll book in another filling (Which isn't even bothering me at all) before looking at improving appearance.

It's easy for people to say who don't have to live with really bad teeth on a daily basis. t's extremely depressing...makes you not not want to go out in public.

If your priority is your front teeth, and you are getting nowhere with your current dentist, best seek a second opinion. its your mouth and you should be happy with it. There are plenty of good dentists out there who will treat you the way you want to be treated.
