Anyone any thoughts on Citi? Cheapest share of the big american banks, up from $4.30 at start of december to over $5 yesterday. On the downside their asset base has shrunk and they are still getting back on their feet after the crash while the likes of BOA & JPM are storming on.

I have been watching citi for the bast 2months and i would say that we missed the chance to get in.

    It will still go up.

I believe that it will continue to gain, I bought in at $4.98 and expect that it will continue on it's current course. The Portuguese Bonds (E.U. Bailout for all intents and purposes) helped and now that it has breached $5 and reasonably expect to stay above, many funds will be enabled to buy (as many of you I'm sure are aware). The influence of cash should give the stock a further push.

I am more bullish on BAC though.

If you had any morals you wouldn't go near Citi, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America etc

True that the Finance sector and ethics don't exactly go hand in hand but if we didn't go near them and their doors closed tomorrow - that would be enough to bring about 'The Big One', the end of the modern world.

Im thinking of buying as a long term. I think as things clear up and they get themselves sorted out they could have a good amount of gain in them.

What's up with citi. It's down 30cent or more

Would anyone worry about Julian Assange's recent interviews, where he says he has material which will bring down 1 major bank? Or are we assuming this is BoA?

Yes, Apparently it's BAC. BAC's website had issues on Friday...

Bought in shortly after my original post. Made a small gain and now big loss  but would be more positive on staying in long term and letting the earnings news die away

On what basis do you judge it? I'm not having a go, just curious. Why are Citi cheaper than JPM for example?

The likes of JP Morgan and BOA had much better balance sheets and less risky trades and loans when things went belly up so they are in a much better financial position. Citi are still getting back on their feet and only recently got rid of the US governments shareholding which is a positive
