Dunno if this makes sense but I recently got new glasses and got the Ultraclear option for the anti-reflection coating. I've noticed that the glasses tend to smudge a much easier than my previous (non ultra clear) ones and they fog up almost when the wind changes.

Is this "normal" or should I be bringing them back?

Eyeglasses with anti reflective coating do tend to get smudged or fog up. Good AR coating like Crizal or crizal A2 or lenses from AO or other branded companies come with anti smudge and anti fog lenses may be you would want to upgrade your lenses to crizal

Basic anti glare coating (they do differ) do tend to smudge easily and can be difficult to clean but there are alternatives

There are two good options for anti smudge and anti fog coatings available here. If you ask for Essilor's Crizal Forte (this is their most advanced costing and it uses scotchgard technology to make them easier to clean and to fight smudging. It comes with a 2 year warrenty against the coating breaking down or scratching. If you do manage to scratch your lenses within 2 years they (essilor) will replace the lenses free of charge but you have to use your original prescription).

Another brand popular here is Hoya's Hi Vision long life. They are on a par with Essilor's Crizal Forte coating.
