I bet the drivers who have it on loan for the two weeks are hoping they can keep it, yeah em it's a grand car, really deters people from speeding, it would be best to keep it sir, may catch some high profile criminals sir!!

That's a very, very cool cop car, but the reality is that you could use the body and put in a 1.9TDI and it would be achieving the same purpose - publicity and being a visible deterrent.

I love that they borrowed a HGV to look into the cabs of other HGV drivers - genius! :D:D

The novelty will soon wear off for the cops driving it for 8 hours a day. These cars are are not the most comfy for the work they do.

All the money and effort Lotus put into the aerodynamics on that car and they put a dirty big beacon on the roof!

And seamlessly wired into the car as well.

well the article says it is the first sports car used in the uk police force....

i am sure they had a sports car in police livery before...100% sure of it

i don't think it will be any use..how many people will it catch..sure people will just slow down and cause more chaos while they rubber neck looking at this car...

just found what i was saying

High speed chases are conducted by helicopter surely.. cars are only interceptors.. or I am thinkin' of Mad Max?

Loti ? can't handle the hardships of single driver weekend dry weather use without self destructing never mind various police shifts while been driven by hamfisted, kerb bouncing cops, Lotus = Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious.

At a guess, they need to keep the car in sight until the helicopter can be mobilised and brought to the area.

Well I guess you could call it a sports car ..
Used ones were somewhat popular in Rallying.

"It might also appeal to people considering a career in law enforcement." :)

    Any volunteers?

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

    And then beat 'em...
