    Hi everyone.
Ive been lurking on this site for long enough so i thought it was about time I redistered. :)

I want to set up an online trading account. I have read most of the pages here but im still not sure about a few things.

I want to start trading on a small scale (€1000-€3000) and I dont want to be limited to the Irish market. I know most of the online trading companies leave you do that but when I was reading the FAQs on the davy stockbrokers page it said that minimum trade for international markets is €5000!!

Does anyone know of a reliable online trading company that has a lower (much lower eg: €500-€2000) minimum international trade amount??

Also, are traders like sharewatch really that unreliable or goodbody not quoting a lot of US companies??

    I appreciate any feedback.
    Many thanks in advance :):)

Trading international shares through Irish broker is nuts, so I recommend you to open 2 accounts. One for Irish shares and another for international.
Anyway, €1000-3000 is way too little to begin with. Most decent brokers won't even let you to open an account.

Try waterhouse or zecco theyve let me trade with less then a €1100. if your going for u.s shares set up with zecco their commision is $4.50

Either way you're going to get stung for changing your euros into GB pounds or Dollars - TD waterhouse will charge your 1.75% over the base rate on FX conversions.

That said, I would recommend TD over sharewatch or aib online / goodbody anyday for charges, user interface, and stock selection.

Ive been using Odl securities since they took over from sharewatch. I find the platform good, I like the fact I can now trade on many exchanges without having to fund our account with the currency of that exchange and You don't get fleeced with commission charges for doing so.
    Every trade costs €14.95
on the neg side there response to customer support emails is poor but if you ring with you Query it usually gets answered straight away

Thanks for all the advice. I thought Waterhouse would be the best and I actually started registering on their website about a 6 months ago but I never sent in my confirmation of identity form and I have a feeling from what ive read on other threads here that its going to be hassle registering now.

Ill give it a shot anyway sure and ill see how it goes.

    Thanks again for replying guys.
