    Hi All,

I know of a farming widow with a MF390 like this for sale:

Not sure of the year (mid 90s sound right?)
    Absolutely immac though.
Used for tedding, topping and feeding round bales. Never used for spreading fertiliser, low hours I'd imagine.

    What're they worth nowadays?

I'll get more info the next time I see her, but it's currently sitting in a shed since her husband died and she would like to have the money instead.

    Tks.

If its that clean I'll give her €8k straight up. They are a great tractor if somewhat overvalued.

    You're funny.

    a '91 for 12.5k here:
    http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/tractors/1801275

The one I'm on about is a 94-98...not 100% sure on the year.
It's cleaner than the one on donedeal too.
Bought from a garage about 4-5 years ago for 18-19k, iirc.

    Nice try though.

No not trying to be funny. Its only 2wd, no loader and probably no shuttle either.
I bought a 2002 NH TL100 last year for €21000 with a quicke Q720 loader on board including a 6ft bucket. 3000 hrs on the clock, so I really couldn't justify much more by the time I'd put a loader on board to use it as a yard tractor. They are overvalued though, I term them the VW Golf of tractors, you pay a big premium for not much extra. You'd nearly buy a case JX90U into the noughties for 390 money.

A mate of mine sold a 390 12/12 2wd(94or95) for €11k last summer. It had a lot of work done, no loader, but was in fair condition. Had it sold in a week off donedeal. They may be overpriced but still in demand.

i think there not worth it, like juniorhuler says he got a fresh newholland for feck all more.

is the reason there worth so much because massey havent made a decent tractor since two or three years ago??

You're right that the quality of MF's has gone downhill, for more than a few years, so therefore the 390 is probably the last decent machine they made. Also, there has been a huge decrease in the number of 2wd tractors bought over the last 15 years. So someone in the market for a used 80 - 100hp 2wd has to pay a higher price for, arguably, the best available / most reliable one - MF 390.

They will always be the most popular amongst small/medium farmers. What also helped was apparent problems with early ford '40' models, and the rubbish that renault was building at the time. Round the mid-west, lots of farmers bought new renaults in mid to late 90's but there arent many of them to be seen now.
