Why is this form of advertising not used more ? considering if you advertise your business on a Taxi it will be seen in a wide area and around the clock.
What do you guys think would be a reasonable cost for advertising on a Taxi ? the whole car not just a back window.
A 8 seater Taxi is a large mobile billboard and can even be targeted to a certain area by picking the right Taxi.
I think its a very under estimated form of advertising.

You are associating your brand with the driver, which may or may not be a good thing

I wouldn't associate it with the driver just the car.
If i was a taxi driver I might not want my car having advertising on it when i was using it privately.

It's easy enough to whip off the taxi sign on the roof not so easy to take off those ad's i suspect.

Why not put ad's on Head rest covers into the taxi or video screens with ad's playing or seat covers with something on the back of the front seats.

What about little flat screen tvs in the head-rests re-running an ad? You can just turn them off when you're using it privately or use it to play films for your kids:) Sure that would make it more viable to be a taxi driver, if the driver got paid a little extra for every customer got in their car?

As a general rule, there is just no point in advertising on taxis, unless:

    you are a citywide brand

    and

you can advertise on at least 10 of them, or it's part of a bigger campaign of some sort

If it's a local service, there is no point advertising it far and wide. You need to concentrate on one area.

If you advertise on just one taxi, so few people will see it, and it will make so little impact that you won't be able to even measure the effectiveness.

The taxi will be all over the place. It will spend at least half the time far away from where you are.

Advertising on a public transport service that serves your specific area is a great deal (certainly a lot better than a taxi) because you are guaranteed that you will be exposed to customers who are in your general area.

I spent 6 months researching this type of business last year.

Trust me after all the work - research - money - TIME I put into it, it was not as fruitful as it originally sounded in my mind so stayed well away.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I read an article on this. Quite interesting... If i can find it i will. It was based on new york taxies...

Its not the taxi user this gets but people walking on the pavement...

So what i wondered was considering most streets where people walk in dublin are pedestrian would it be as effective here?

However i remember recently canvassing for an election in my area and i stuck a magnetic sign on my car...

    It worked quite well...

Then again.... would you want Fianna fail on your car...

Equally would you want express limo service on a 10 year old taxi?

Perhaps there is a market there for choclate bars and soft drinks....

But considering the size of these companies perhaps they feel the 30 sec advert on tele even though 10 times the price might generate more.

Interesting comments, Ive all ways wondered why there is not a bigger up take in this type of advertising.

Its been done in ireland before. Afair there were 2 companies doing it but it never really took off on the scale they were hoping for.

There was a lady from limerick on dragons den with the idea and she didnt stand a chance of getting investment. Taxis spend most their time sitting around. She was on the radio one day saying that she'll keep going with the idea...........where is she now?

    Ha,

Fair play, it is just a pet idea:) I have my million dollar baby already:cool: In actual fact it works in other European countries, Romania was where I saw them. But what do I know:p
