Broken tooth advice

    Hi all,

Hope im the right place for some dental advice! :)

I'm 25 and one of my canine teeth is/was still a milk tooth (baby tooth). The adult canine has kind of grown in parallell, on the inside of it.

Over the last year the baby tooth started to decay and yesterday half of it kind of broke off :o .. (well about 80% of it)

As the adult tooth has already grown on the inside, i assume this cant be moved into place so ill be looking to get an implant where the baby tooth was.

Problem is there is still a bit of the broken baby tooth left.

My main question is, should i get this pulled now and let it heal? or should I wait and only get it pulled when i'm ready to get the implant tooth?

Basically, im not sure whether letting it heal will make it easier or more difficult to get the implant put in??

    Appreciate any advice

Take out the baby tooth and
    1. Brace to pull the adult canine into the correct place
    2. Remove the adult canine and get and implant ( it will be in the way where it is)

Personally I would opt for option 1 if your the patient sort.

My adult canine is fairly far in and fully grown so it would need to be moved a good bit ... I didnt even think it would be possible to move it that much, but out of curiosity how long do you think it would take to move into place? weeks, months, years?

But yes, I am the impatient type, so I'd be inclined to go for option 2. (probably in a month or two)...

My question now is; Would it be better to pull whats left of the babytooth now and let the "hole" heal or should i wait to get it pulled when I go to get the implant so that the hole is fresh?

Btw, Fitzgeme, are you a dentist? (I recognise your user name from some motoring forums ;) )
