to become a primary teacher in a gealscoil do you have to do a primary teaching course and then specialise in irish or is there any colleges with separate courses?

You do not have to do a seperate course, but you do need a very good standard of Irish. Any teachers on our staff who are not native speakers would have been either in primary/secondary or third level through Irish and/or took Irish with education to degree level.

Some people did,say an ARTS degree and then the post grad to get into primary. Yes, it's primary teaching you apply for, in your choice of college-we all think our own alma mater was best, so I'll say Mary I and wait for the teachers from other places come on and plug theirs.

If i were you I would put pats down first because you have the option of taking an arts subject with education. A you are interested in teaching in a gaelscoil I would reccommend taking Irish. You can also opt to undertake your teaching practices in gaelscoileanna in college.
I have heard great reviews of the other teaching college but if you want to focus on irish then this may be your best bet.

Also forgot to say, if you are living in a gaeltacht area, you could apply as a gaeltacht applicant and you will automatically be placed in gaelscoileanna for your teaching practices!

Me too. you do an arts subject with majority of education courses so saying Pats is your best bet for Irish is ridiculous. I'm a Mary I grad but you should pick whichever college suits your needs best.
OP apply for a normal B. Ed, there's no separate course for Gaelscoil teaching. Just apply to do your TP in Gaelscoils.
