I'm hesitant to recommend a particular complex as I've found any that I've stayed at to be much of a muchness. I would suggest tripadvisor on that score as I don't have to factor kids into the equation.

Corralejo is the probably the best place to base yourselves, although one of the best beaches in Europe is a couple of hours south near Jandia, amazing beach with a lagoon full of fish, but that's about it, very popular with Germans and Scandinavians not many Irish/English about.

Calleta de Fuste is the other main resort, it's ok, but I was bored after a couple of days.

I Would suggest a daytrip or longer to Lanzarote, the ferry is fairly cheap at about €25 return. You can usually see lots of Pilot whales and Dolphins and if you're very lucky Flying fish. The ferry leaves from Corralejo and takes about half an hour. The "shopping trip" which you will see advertised takes you to Puerta del Carmen which may be a bit more exciting than Playa Blanca, the usual ferry destination.

One word of warning, I have never been bitten by as many Mosquitos in the Canaries as I did last month, bring a couple of the plug in type repellents and keep windows closed at night.

I've been to Fuerteventura a couple of times and am going back in July. I stayed in a very small, quiet complex in Corralejo with no bar or restaurant so obviously would not help in your search. Am heading back to Jandia so am brushing up on my German !

May I suggest you look on www.fuerteventura-forum.com which should be able to give you all you need, they have an accomodation rental section there which is virtually all either Corralejo or Costa Caleta and you might pick up something there.

The only tip I'd give you is to hire a car. A taxi from the airport is about 50 Euro each way and you would get a Focus or similar for a week for 120/130ish. www.autoreisen.es is the best combination of price and quality of car in my opinion. There are so many quiet deserted beaches minutes away from the towns that you need a car to get to and are well worth seeing. Be aware thought that away from the towns, all beaches are clothing optional which may or may not be an issue for you and your family.

    Enjoy Fuerteventura.

I went last summer with my girlfriend, two mates and their girlfriends. We stayed in bristol playa which was nice and had a lovely swimming pool. It didnt seem like a young person place really. nightlife wasnt amazing but we were looking for a relaxing time mostly. Apart from the great pool the kids facilities were ok. had pool tables and a crappy air hockey table that didnt really work. they had activities going on in the resort too but I didnt really look into them too much tbh.
