It all starts on Thursday with plentry of familiar names.

Mick Halford has Hujalea in $120,000 handicap. Might need a few to come out though. Fencing Master is top weight in that with Dandy Boy and Laa Rayb there too.

Crying Lightening (2l 2nd to White Moonstone) runs in the 1000 Guineas trial.

Man of Iron and Halicanarssis in $110,00 race.

    Mikhail Glinka in another race

Sea Lord, Mabait, Mendip, Imbongi and more in the G3 later. Tracey Collins needs a fair few to come out of that for Across The Rhine to get a run.

Few more interesting runners there. Take a look yourself

    Interested in watching -
R2 - Reem.. First run for De Kock, nice filly in oz.
R6 - Imbonghi - An old war horse, better over 6f-7f instead of the mile alternative.
    R7 - Fencing Master

Gotta love the Dubai Carnival :D

Dandy Boy destroyed that field! Colm O'Donoghue and David Marnane off the mark in the desert.

    Hujalea finished second

    Irish 1-2

I'm absolutely sick I had it down to Sir Gerry or Dandy Boy and went for Sir Gerry. Hoping Invincible Ash will go well in the 5.40

Nice call. Money to be made backing De Kock and Godolphin out there.I'd Enak beaten a short head in the last, raging.

Very interesting to see Cape Blanco, Joshua Tree, Alexander Pope and Master of Hounds all being entered for the carnival!

Didn't realise they were entered. I'd be very very surprised to see a Ballydoyle horse there. Especially Cape Blanco,it'll be a long season until Arc day

Looks a cracking days racing tomorrow. I like the look of Al Shemali.

My favourite horse is La De Two. Think a rating of 107 tomorrow might be a bit much, but will back I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,838 ✭✭✭Nulty

Hujaylea would have won that if he hot the same path as the winner

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Haha delighted I didn't back La De Two. I've backed Al Shemali.

My word. How did War Artist go off at 10/1 today? I didn't even look at it :( I don't know how many times I've backed that horse!!!

    Dubai World Cup Night Racecard

I think Gitano Hernando is too big at 16/1. Not far off Twice Over and has a better draw this time while the fav is stuck out wide again. Pace might come from Monterosso and Cape Blanco who will want a good test of stamina. Gitano will appreciate that over 10f too and has been prepared in the desert.

Golden Sword is interesting too but a bit of a negative that Soumillon has sided with Musir. Can't fault Musirs form but got a nice passage when beaten by Twice Over. Stronger pace may help him too if hes not asked to do too much early on.

Japanese always send good horses and Buena Vista is given a bad draw. Victoire Pisa has beaten her before so must be favoured by a better draw.

Poets Voice will come on for the run behind Wigmore Hall allegedly and has Frankie on. Another double figure draw and plenty to do from there but I wouldn't discount him. One of three Dubawi colts from Godolphin.

I'll take two against JJ the Jetplane in the Al Quoz. Eddie Lynams Sole Power might be a little underpriced. He has to prove that he can repeat his Nunthorpe win but fast ground is to his liking and hes positioned right under the pace. The other is Ed Creightons filly third in the Nunthorpe. She carries relatively less than she did in the Nunthorpe and she is an ech way option on the far side. It would be ideal if it came up very fast for her.

Draw won't bother Buena Vista, she can travel back and ease into the race... Her VICTORY (stewards again) in the Japan Cup was breathtaking... She traveled 4 wide from the 4f pole and still walked away with it.. 10/1, get in..

Gio Ponti is a fav of mine and would be no surprise to see him thereabouts..
Twice Over is a nice horse, but World Class? Time will tell...
11/4 against seasoned International Campaigners is craziness....

Just had a winner there with Frankie, leaving it now until the World Cup - any tips there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,900 ✭✭✭Eire-Dearg

I had Master of Hounds. Nothing worse then losing a photo finish.

I can't see why Cape Blanco isn't favourite. Gio Ponti each way for me.

Whats the prize fund? Would be great to see Aidan O' Brien's taking it home.

$10,000,000 I think... would be great to see him win alright!!

Jamie Spencer is a fool. Pace was ridiculous and he shoud have gone to the front in the back stretch. Kieran Fallon (to name just one) would have won that race on Cape Blanco. He would have wound the horse up slowly from the back stretch and read the pace better.

    Good winner though

So tempted to start a spencer bashing lol... BUT i think he was quite content to sit there, at that moment CB was loping along and had it turned into a sprint from the 3f he would have won... When Victoire Pisa made a quick move, i think Spencer thought VP and the leader would give in easily enough.. Gio Ponti looked a threat down the stretch however nothing materialised...
Of the rest Buick's horse finished off like lightening and Buena Vista finished well after receiving a check on straightening and switching her line once or twice...
Twice Over, stick to the UK ....

The entire market for me had T.O lay all day... It is amazing though, when there is a big race overseas the UK horse is generally near the head of the market.. It is almost as if the bookies are dismissing form in other countries..
I mean the winner won the Arima Kinen on 26th Dec and had finished 3rd in the Japan Cup, yet was sent off 12/1... Buena Vista available at 10/1, Gio Ponti a USA Grp 1 winner available at 10/1,, the Irish Derby winner at 4/1!!!

I didn't even think of looking at Twice Over when I was looking at the prices of others. I thought he was around the 4/1 mark, just ahead of Cape Blanco. Anyone who backed that horse at 2/1 deserved to lose their money.
