I never switched over to the upgraded version of facebook but it didn't really matter as it is going to be switched over anyway.
Message in my facebook says "In the next few days, you'll be upgraded to the new profile, which offers more ways to show and tell your story."
Was wondering why did they offer people the "choice" in the first place.
My guess is less people will complain about it if they feel that they chose it even though it reality it was always going to be changed.
Like the way the same company owns Dixon's, Curry's and PC world yet people still think they have a choice.
    Pretty clever

You obviously have a perfect life if this bothers you so much.

It is not an "upgade". It's a change to the user interface.

I doesn't bother me. I never said it did. In fact I said it was very clever. Can you read?

The quote I gave is from Facebook. They called it an upgrade. Not me

its so that you feel like you have some control over your own facebook, but in reality facebook have it all

Because doing it on an opt-in lets people adapt slowly, and when bugs arise which I don't doubt they did they come in steadily. Instead of a "Yep, good to go" and 500 million people slam the support inbox with complaints about this that and the other.

Think of the new profile's opt-in phase as being the final stage of testing.

There is a reason for gradual rollouts though. I'm using Facebook Messages Beta and I'm going to be totally honest - it's not ready for release yet. Having [username]@facebook.com email is great and everything but there's a lot of problems that need to be ironed out. I wouldn't use it over gmail for most of my messages, but with a bit more polish it could help merge all of my internet talking into one place. All it needs now is Boards integration.

And I actually prefer the new Facebook profile, it makes more sense, it's cleaner, etc. etc.
