Syncing email on I phone 4 with e mail on com?puter

Can send and receive e mail - no issue.
But if I delete a mail on my I phone, when I go into my mail via the Internet the mail is still in the inbox.
How do I sync my actions on my email account via my I phone with the actual account as you see it via the Internet ?

Are you sure you're not just archiving the messages?

No. I'm definitely deleting them on the I phone.

What type of account do you have POP or IMAP? POP won't do it, but IMAP will. Routing your email account through Gmail might be possible to do this, but I don't use it myself, so I'm not sure. Gmail does explain how to route your emails in very good detail on their website if you go down that route.

It all depends on your email service provider. Eircom akaik only offer POP3, most others will at least offer IMAP and Gmail and Hotmail now offer free MS exchange services.

Settings/Mail, Contact, Calandars/pop.xxxx.xx/Advanced/Delete from server:
Options are Never/Seven days/When removed from Inbox.

Have you tried this?

AFAIK I have to use POP for live email, IMAP won't work with it.

I've gone into advanced/remove/and clicked on after one day.

I'm assuming it means that it will update any actions taken on the I phone within 24 hours on the account as I see it were I to access via computer on the internet.

Thanks for all the advice everybody.

Google ActiveSync is MS Exchange ActiveSync. Google uses Microsoft's protocol.

That's true but using google's solution you can avoid outlook hehe.

I avoid Outlook as much as possible, it's a buggy super bloated software that never got improved.

I think you missed the point slightly: what sink is talking about, and what I do too, is use the MS Exchange option on the iPhone to talk directly to Google's servers. You tell it that "m.google.com" is the "Exchange server", so it uses that protocol. So I now have full syncronisation of Mail, Contacts and Calendar on my iPod Touch, and there's no Outlook involved at all. I don't even have Outlook installed on my PC.

For a live.ie mail account I've used
- ms exchange
- m.hotmail.com as the server

Everything syncing instantly.
