Are the drives failing or just corrupting?

Does this give a warning yellow or red?

If you suspect the problem to be bad sectors on a drive, I'd backup your files now if you haven't done so already.

The blue screen should also have a stop code. If we had that code it would help narrow down what's causing the problem.

In the meantime run chkdsk on all the drives with the /f /v /r parameters. It'll take a few hours, but it'll give you a better indication if a drive is failing and how bad it is. :)

I've done all this think the stop codes are all c0000021a

I know the issue is faulty sectors on hard drives, not worries about backups, all users are on rooming profiles.

I just find it hard that that there's so many of the exact same error, overly coincidental?

Have you ran the built in Dell Hard Drive diagnostic tool?

    yes faulty sectors.

I know what the issue is, im not looking to recolve it, Im more wondering has anyone else seen it since the new year.

I just find it strange that i've had so many PCs come to my helpdesk team with it.

Have ye done anything to all machines in the last few months? From what you describe (i.e. a lot machines suddenly exhibiting the same fault) I'd say only you can answer this one.

no we had a freeze over xmas to stop changes, these all came in over the first 10 days of the new year. even on some remote systems which would have limited network access.

Freeze wasn't lifted until the 10th but issues came in beforehand.

Suggest maybe a virus, issue with age of systems or the mild possibility of a 2011 bug?

But the amount that came in suggests more than just coincidence
