Hi All and Happy new Year to u all

I am looking for a courier to collect small packages from all over Ireland.
Collections will be from retail outlets in various towns but i will also require collection from individual customers at their home addresses who may be in smaller towns or even rural areas. Will couriers collect from rural locations or is there a better way of organising this.

Also I wil be trialling this idea so i dont have a company name or vat number yet. Will the courier companies deal with an individual.
If anyone has an idea of pricing that would be great.
Initially I think this would be minimum 10 packages a week but would be increasing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    :D

Give Les Dunne in wheels couriers a shout. www.wheelscouriers.ie. I have used them and they are excellent.

Nightline have a nationwide network of vans and depots. Dpd also. Ring around and get a few prices.

    couple of options

DPD - but at just 10 parcels a week, expect to pay €10+ per parcel

Fastway - similar to DPD, but may be a bit cheaper.

All companies will deal with everyone.

Try DPD, they used to be called Interlink., Depots all over the country, North and South. Ask for sales dept.Phone head office in Athlone 0906420500.And yes they will collect from rural addresses.

I started using Wiseloads in August last year and have had no problems at all. They use DPD within Ireland and Parcel Force to the UK. Costs E10 + VAT to send on DPD next day service and you can book it on their (wiseloads) website and pay by Paypal. I send out shoe racks which weigh around 8kg and are 1m long. Parcel Force will take upto 30kg to UK on their 48hr service for E10+VAT

I am not connected to wiseloads other than being a happy customer and willing to recommend them. See www.wiseloads.com

That's a great price for the UK.

Got a quote from Wiseloads this morning for a 3kg parcel to UK for €22.50, is there something I am missing if others seem to only pay €10.00 for up to 30kg to UK?

I thought it was to good to be true.

Yes, the €10 rate is basically only from Northern Ireland to UK, not the south!

€22.50 is not a bad price. Is it inclusive of VAT?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 432 ✭✭Glenalla

€22.50 is plus vat. Its expensive considering the product to be sent is only valued at €30.00, so a €30.00 product ere is now €52.50 in the UK. Anybody know of any other couriers working out cheaper?

The value of the contents bears no connection to the cost of moving the box from one country to another. Would you accept a courier asking for more money than normal if the contents were €3000????

Thanks Barry, I am well aware of that however for us to be more competitive in the UK we need to reduce our courier costs as much as we can as it is having a huge bearing on the final price to the end user. Its amazing there is such a difference sending to the UK from N Ireland and sending to the UK from Southern Ireland, just trying to find the best rates.

We use DPD in work and find them brilliant. Also charge €10+ VAT up to 30kgs and have had no problems with them at all. Very reliable.

Hi Annie, is that €10.00 for up to 30kg from Ireland to the UK or just within Ireland? Thanks
