Higher Diploma in Information Technology MHG54: Anyone done/doing this course?

    Hi all,

I did my undergrad in Anthropology in Maynooth. Graduated with a first in 2008. Have done a bit of this and a bit of that since but I'm finding it hard to find work so would like to do a course that has more solid employment prospects. I'm thinking of applying for this H Dip in IT as it's aimed at students with degrees in a field that aren't computer-based.

I have a friend that done this course for around half of the year but he left because he found it too difficult. He wouldn't have much of a head for maths though, I think I would be a little (but not much) better.

I'm interested to hear if anyone here has done or is currently doing this course. I'd like to see how difficult it is for someone from a non-computing background and what the job prospects are like.

    Any input appreciated :)

I know a couple of people doing this course, all having done well in their undergrad arts degrees.

I don't want to put you off this course if you're really interested in it, but they all find it extremely difficult. The modules you do range from introductory first year modules to third year ones. I haven't seen much of my friends in this course, because they seem to be constantly working on something- spending a lot more time working than they did on any year of their undergrads.

That said, I haven't done the course, so I don't know what it's like first hand; it may be doable if you have a head for computers.
