Hi, basically for my new job I need to submit references giving the exact dates of where and when I was employed over the last few years. However one of my previous workplaces no longer exists and I am not in contact with any former managers/supervisors etc. Is there another way of receiving proof that I did work here? I have heard that the Revenue can supply letters stating the dates of employment in these cases but I'm not sure if that is fully true or not. Could anybody help me out? Thanks.

If you could track down the manager/referee would they happily act as referee?

There are always ways and means of doing so.
You should not be deselected because of something like this.

If the person(s) in question would in your opinion be happy to go referee for you, feel free to pm the company name and referee name and I'm confident I could find them for you.

Revenue will provide you with a letter stating dates that you worked and a company name. But thats it usally for 10 year or 5 year check they will want more info than this. I had to do a security check for my job they check all my jobs back 10 years and ask for basic references from them and then for 2 more detailed references.

Saying that if the company is gone and you cant find anyone and all your other references checkout maybe the company will accept a letter from revenue. Just be explain the situation to them. MOst places that require screening or vetting encounter this all the time. Especially the way things are at the moment with companies closing down all over the place.

I have a friend who progressed through a school that closed, a University that amalgamated and records were not kept and something like 3 jobs where the firms closed. She began to think she was jinxed!

if you ring the revenue low call number they'll give you a list of the dates you worked at various places going back as far as you want/need. you have to have been paying tax in the job obviously
