I am interested in applying to the teaching council...

    I hold a
    Certificate in IT Support
    Diploma in Applications and Support
BSc in IT Management and a
    MA In Music Technology

should i just say i have an MA and a BSc or should i list everything?

    any thoughts?

being on the teaching council allows what exactly?
to apply for secondary school teaching roles or more?

Well you can apply to see what you will be qualified to teach after you do a teaching course. It'll cost €200 and at most you'll be qualified to teach Computers (masters don't count unfortunately).

Do you have a teaching qualification? PGDE or equivalent?

Otherwise you won't be able to teach anything in secondary schools. Well, I suppose you could try to teach as an unqualified teacher

cool, well i believe all my qualifications have to be assesed, so im in the middle of that form at the moment, cant do much more as i am waiting on the college to send me out old results etc. be a few days.

why would the masters not count?
is a masters good for any type of teaching or just my particular masters?

im currently teaching guitar with a vec.....

but i have no "teaching" qualification per se.

whats the difference between a hdip and the PGDE.

It's the same thing. PGDE is the new name. Read through a few threads here and you'll find out loads.

Basically, no masters counts. It just has to be a degree. A degree is 3 years, masters is one. They figure you can't become proficient in one year in something that you didn't do for your degree. As someone with a masters and a degree that are totally unrelated to each other....I agree.

To be honest, you're going to probably be told that you can teach Computers, but you'd be very very lucky to get hired as a computers teacher in a secondary school. Maybe at adult education in third level you might find something.
