    Hi There

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences of a wedding in the Shannon Oaks hotel in Pportumna, Galway, good or bad!

    Thanks

Me and my partner where also thinking of it for our wedding so we stayed for 2 nights to get a real feel for the place. I wouldnt go back, to me its like the irish fowlty towers, dirty rooms, really bad food and not great staff, but we may have just been there at the wrong time, why not try it your selfs for a night before you decide.

Was at a wedding there about 3 years ago, so it might have changed. We had a good time, did not find the venue particularly brilliant or bad in any way. Its a pretty traditional venue with a nice bar for before and after. Good accommodation options for families with the chalets to rent, and easy to get to for most areas of the country.

I cannot remember the food, sorry. No better or worse than any other Irish wedding.

We are getting married there next week so can let you know how it goes!

They are not a modern hotel, has the lodge feel about it but have recently refurbished the banquet and bridal suites. We will be the first wedding using it :)
We asked around before booking and have been told by previous wedding guests that the food is great. Cost wise, they really were the best deal at the time.

They are having a wedding fair next sunday so check it out for yourselves if you can.

Fingers crossed, we are going to have the perfect day

Was at my cousins wedding last year and it was not great. The food was not great nad the service was really bad. To be honest it was not up to much but the band she had was great so a good time had in the end!! The room we stayed in was dirty. We changed to another room and it was no much better.

Odd really as going back 5 or 6 years ago we had stayed in the hotel and loved it. Clean, food good, spa treatments great but last year... Bloody awful.

    Hi GaGa21

How did the wedding reception go for you?

My partner and I recently got engaged and were looking at the Hotel as a serious possibility. Karl, the general manager, seemed like he knew what he was about. The bridal suite and the reception room looked superb.

But reading the reviews here, I'm a little concerned....

    Hi,
The wedding was fab and i can't praise the hotel high enough.
Karl really looked after us and organised everything perfectly. The other staff were great too. The food was lovely and as u said, the new reception and bridal suite are renovated to a very high standard.
I was so happy with the day and there were no complaints from me about the hotel or anything else on the day. Other guests praised it too and said our wedding was one of the best they'd been to! My advise is to go for it :)
