Help with illness benefit

    I am just about to come off maternity benefit, I am very sick due to preganancy related problems and won't be able to work.

    I was registered as self employed prior to being on maternity benefit but only from Oct 2009 to Aug 2010.

    Prior to that I was employed PAYE continuously for 5 years.

    Can I apply for illness benefit?

    Many thanks for any help or input here.

    Yes you can. From the above dates it sounds like you have enough contributions for payment.

    Thank you very much for your help, I will apply for the illness benefit and hopefully all will be okay.
