Usually they send them about 6 weeks before renewal is due, but there seems to be a delay in sending out the forms at the moment. Maybe it's due to the bad weather or maybe my form just got lost in the post?

Yeah I was wondering when I would get mine. My tax is up at the end of the month.

    Ditto

Usually get mine around the first week of the final month.

Yeah 3 months for me too. 365 euro and I only get 3 months out of it! Makes me want to sell my car

Usually tax the car for only 3 months, also I wait until 3 and a half weeks after it's expired to tax it as I like to change cars very often and only drive cheap ole yokes so selling one with loads of tax on it would irk me.

What sort of price would a cheap old yoke be to you RoverJames?

I was thinking of doing something similar because I might only be using the car on weekends soon. So I was thinking of going down the bangeromics kinda route.

Only hardpart is that I'm a big tall guy so I wouldn't be comfortable in a lot of smaller cars.

Currently have a 2002 MG ZT that was €2250, might be a tad harsh calling it a cheap ole yoke, but it was very cheap I think, before that...
    1993 520i for €900 bought in April 2010
    1997 Rover 216 Coupe €800 bought in September 2009
    1992 Merc 250 diesel €430 bought in July 2009
    1993 Prelude €850 bought in March 2009

That was all mainly just wanting to have a yoke to get ship shape and do some buying and selling for the craic. The gearbox went on the 216 so that didn't end well, the other 3 payed for themselve and I still have the ZT but I could buy a sh1tter in the morning for a few hundred and put the ZT for sale, have no plans to but you never know :pac:

Although over the next few months I may be moving jobs, currently wotk about 12 miles from home, if I had to do a good lash of driving I would probably get an old diesel and if the next job is close to home (ie a mile or two) I wouldn't run a 2.5V6 on that sort of daily commute I'd probably get a smaller cc car.

Motor tax format has changed, theres now a reminder that you have to change ownership etc. and scrap car with Certificate of Destruction and all. Maybe this explains the delay?

Check out www.scrapmycar.ie/blog for a scanned copy of my latest reminder

Renewed mine last week and still no sign of the disc. I have the printout of the confirmation but I would still like my disc!

I reckon that's part of the delay too. I got one of those before Christmas for a car I had scrapped and have a Cert of Destruction for. Can't get through on the phone, they haven't answered my email and there's no way I'm sending the only proof I have it's been scrapped legitimately to them without talking to a person first :)

My replacement car's tax was up at the start of the month & I was waiting for the renewal letter to tax it and not having much joy getting through on the phone. Discovered the other day that there's a "Forgotten Pin" link on the main motortax website that will email you your pin if you fill in your details correctly (I assume you had to have an email address registered with them too).

Car is now taxed, hopefully the disc will arrive!

the cod number in the top right of the yellow form you got should be enough to prove scrappage, you shouldnt have to send it away. the delay may be that the cod isnt usually sent away by the ATF (Authorised Treatment Facility) except at the end of the month, then there is the inevitable civil service delay in processing it. There is a new online system which we are signed up to where we can notify the dept of transport on the same day we issue the cert. seems to be running smooth enough so far, but the uptake amongst ATFs isnt that great so far.
