Many policies aren't invalidated, they just apply a very large excess. In my case (AXA) it was two grand.

Why don't you just declare them? Most ins cos won't load for two points anyway. I can't understand why anyone would want to give an insurance company money and give them a way to wriggle out of a payout.

Did the bump result in a claim, or might there be one in the post?

Declare them now. Better late than never.

Most insurance companies dont load extra for 2 points, why run the risk of not declaring?

I got 2 points the year before last, my insurance company already knew when I rang them and my policy only went up by 47 quid.

It's not worth the risk, can you afford to replace your car if the insurers don't cover you after an accident?

Do you mean that you got two penalty points, failed to declare them, and then crashed?

Yeah, Insurance industry have their own database, and penalty points would be on pulse obviously too. The insurance company most likely know about the penalty points already!

What if you tell them after they've paid out on this claim and they find out that the penalty points were awarded before the claim and you didn't declare them?

Just call them now and declare the points.

2 grand extra for 2 points ? Were they 2 points added on to an existing 8 or something ?

Aviva are the same with me - something like a €2500 excess (instead of €125) if I don't declare points. Mind they give me a discount for no points, which is the same as loading for two.
