    Hey just a quick question..

If you're in your final year and you fail an exam after the semster 1 or semester 2 exams and end up passing it in your Autumn repeat exam. Does that mean you can only get a Pass Degree?

    Cheers

No matter what you score in the repeat?

DCU only awards Hon's degrees and not Pass degrees. Even back a few years ago when they gave a 'pass' instead of 3rd it was a pass in an Hons degree. So regardless of level you can still say B.Sc. (Hons) :)

Well I know for school of computing courses you are allowed to fail at least one each semester and still receive a 1st class or 2nd class.

If you fail an exam in 1st or 2nd Semester you have the opportunity to compensate for the failed exam if you have decent results in your other exams, I dont know the exact structure for compensation but the examiner will look at your exams results in total.

If you are unfortunate enough to repeat exam then you will only receive a pass grade for that exam no matter how well you do in the repeat. Eg. no difference between getting 50% or 80% in the repeat exam because you will only receive a pass grade or 3rd honour, obviously you will still have to get over 40% in the repeat.

You're not getting your degree yet though as you're only in 2nd year?

Yeah appraently if you pass any subject by compensation you can not get any higher than a pass degree (or a 3rd class hons, if thats what you want to call it) ??
