This is probably an idiotic question just to forewarn but as I'm a JF in a science related course I haven't visited any libraries other than the Hamilton. I'm just wondering whether the Berkley, Leckley or Usher (is that even what they're called?) libraries have books of popular fiction? eg Catcher in the Rye etc.. taa in advance!

You can search for anything with the catalogue.

There's not really many lending copies of fiction books available.

Check out the Dublin public libraries:

But if you don't mind reading it in the library you can request pretty much any book you want from Santry

Dublin Libraries are probably a better bet, you can take stuff out for weeks at a time and you won't be eating into your college book allowance from the Trinity Library. Try the Central Library in the Ilac Centre.

Nearest library to TCD, certainly the hamilton end anyway, would be the one on Pearse st. Just beyond where the planned "biosciences" building is under construction.

Though there are for certain books, particularly ones that are on the English syllabus - you can get lucky.

As others have said, most useful if you're okay with reading in the library - I guess if you're usually in the Hamilton it's at least a change of venue rather than feeling like study-time. :)
